Holding an emergency meeting to ask for more funding for Dorset County Hospital was one of our MPs first priorities at the beginning of this year. Chris Loder MP can now announce that, since that meeting on 11th February 2020 and just 7 weeks after being elected, the Government has delivered on its pledge to support West Dorset's hospitals.
A few weeks ago, Dorset County Hospital was awarded a further £2.4m to carry out vital maintenance work and upgrade facilities. The investment will be used to fund a number of essential building and engineering projects, including a new fire alarm system, lift refurbishments and replacements, new chillers and LED lighting.
In addition, Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust, which includes Bridport Community Hospital, has been granted £1.1m for eight upgrading projects; while South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, which provides services in Dorset and across the region, has secured nearly £1m.
